Kiara is a newly published children's author with a deep passion for fostering self-love, literacy, and education among minority children. As a single mother, therapist, and school social worker, she draws on her diverse experiences to create books and educational resources that help parents engage with their children in creative and meaningful ways, all while ensuring the resources reflect their unique identities.
This vision led her to establish Love Anise LLC, a business dedicated to promoting literacy and education through books, puzzles, coloring activities, and more. The inspiration for Love Anise comes from Kiara’s daughter, Nova Carraway, who is full of joy and curiosity. Nova shares her mother's love of books and is constantly engaged in creative pursuits, whether she’s drawing, painting, coloring, dancing, acting, or reading.

Love Anise is a brand inspired by Nova Janae, who is now 5 years old. It was founded when Nova was just 2, with the mission of empowering, educating, and uplifting brown children while promoting literacy in the African American community. At Love Anise, our core goal is to provide educational resources, tools, and products that celebrate and reflect our children’s identities. We are committed to ensuring that children see, read, and engage with characters who look like them because we believe that representation matters—and it should start from birth.
The seeds of who and what children will become as adults are planted throughout
childhood. These seeds are words they are called, names they are expected to
respond to, and what they are allowed to express. Love Anise was designed to
ensure the seeds planted are positive and empowering seeds that will one day bloom well rounded, resilient, powerful adults.
